FAQ

  • Which software platform do you use for online counselling?

I currently use zoom for online sessions, as it is reliable and conforms to Canadian Data Protection regulations, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

  • Are your services covered under extended health benefits?

Many extended health insurance plans cover the services of a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Please check with your provider to know for sure what coverage you can expect. I do not offer direct billing at this time, but I will be happy to provide you with receipts to submit for possible reimbursement.

I recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

Does my health insurance cover Registered Counselling Therapists or Canadian Certified Counsellors?

Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Hypnotherapy

  • Is Hypnotherapy safe?

Yes, hypnotherapy is considered safe when administered by a trained and licensed professional. It is a non-invasive and drug-free approach that focuses on utilizing the power of the mind. Hypnotherapy does not involve mind control; instead, it empowers individuals to tap into their own inner resources for self-improvement.

  • Can anyone be Hypnotized?

Most individuals can be hypnotized, as long as they are open and willing to participate. Everyone experiences hypnosis differently, but it is a natural state that we all encounter in our daily lives. The therapist helps individuals achieve this state by creating a safe an supportive environment.

  • Is Hypnotherapy effective?

Hypnotherapy has demonstrated effectiveness in helping a wide range of individuals alleviate various issues. However, it is important to remember that results can vary, and success depends on factors such as individual motivation, receptiveness to hypnosis, and the specific goals being addressed.

  • How many sessions are usually required?

The number of hypnotherapy sessions required depends on the individual and the nature of the issue being addressed. Some individuals may experience significant improvements within a few sessions, while others may require more sessions to achieve their desired goals. I will discuss the expected treatment plan during our first counselling session.

  • Can Hypnotherapy be used alongside other therapies?

Yes, hypnotherapy can complement other therapeutic approaches.

  • Who should not use Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is contraindicated for individuals with psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia or severe bipolar disorder. Clients suffering from these conditions may lose touch with reality during hypnosis, which can potentially worsen their symptoms or cause distress. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize their safety by opting for alternative treatment options.
